On Tuesday, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia called for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza. The two sides criticised the ongoing international efforts towards a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas as “wholly insufficient.” The demand was made during Saudi Foreign Minister (FM) Prince Faisal bin Farhan’s meeting with Pakistani FM Ishaq Dar.


The 17 Indian sailors currently in Iran's custody following the seizure of the Israel-linked vessel MSC Aries are not being held under arrest. According to reports, the sailors are in good condition, and the delay in their return to shore is solely due to unfavorable weather conditions. It has been reported that Indian authorities are in contact with the Indian Ambassador to Iran to facilitate their release.


Baloch leader and the current Khan of Kalat, Amir Ahmed Suleman Daud, said in an interview on Tuesday that the Gwadar Port belongs to the Baloch, and they will oppose any country that comes there, including China. Commenting on the election-time controversy around whether Oman had offered the port to India under then-PM Jawaharlal Nehru, Daud said that the country had no right to make such a sale to either Pakistan or India as it did not own the land. 


Myanmar’s detained former leader and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has been moved from prison to house arrest, a spokesperson for the military government said on Tuesday. Junta spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun cited the country’s extremely hot weather for moving the leader, along with other elderly prisoners, to “protect them from heatstroke.” It is not immediately clear where Suu Kyi has been moved to.


Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday for his diplomatic efforts in Beijing, where he appealed to Chinese President Xi Jinping to pressure Russia to end the war.


Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim said on Monday that Iran’s drone and missile attack on Israel on 13 April was a “legitimate act,” as he claimed it was a consequence of the Israeli government’s “barbarous” bombing of the Iranian embassy building in Damascus, Syria, on 1 April. The Israeli strike killed 16 people, including several members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. “When you break the law you invite a reaction,” Anwar said.
